For those driving in France please note that new legislation has been passed wef from 1st July 2012 requiring all vehicles, including motorcycles, to carry a working breathalyser. It will, however, not be enforced until 1st November 2012 when persons failing to produce a breathalyser will be fined €11 on the spot.
These are now becoming widely available throughout France at a cost of about €1 each. NB: It will be compulsory for these to be certified by the French authorities ie: showing an ‘NF’ number.
